Elves
In November and December 2025, we undertook a development period for ELVES, a new Christmas show for 2-7 year olds, developed in collaboration with Perth Theatre.
Elves is about Bauble and Sprout – two elves who are desperate to get everything ready for Christmas. It’s all very simple – their only job is to wrap the perfect present.
We worked in partnership with local nursery children, exploring questions like; What are elves? What do they look like? Where do they sleep? Where did they learn to wrap? We took all their great answers into the rehearsal room to create a work-in-progress performance of ELVES.
The development process involved Fiona and Rachel working with creative collaborator, Tim Licata, composer/musician Suz Appelbe and Designer Kat Radeva.
The two elves, Bauble and Sprout, are trying desperately to wrap the perfect present. Our inspiration was 1950s assembly production lines, and Lucille Ball (the chocolate factory sketch – look it up!)
Fiona and Rachel, as Bauble and Sprout, returned to the four partner nurseries, plus another five nurseries with the work-in-progress. There was also a showing at Perth Prison, working with Early Years Scotland as part of their Fathers Programme in Prisons.
The development ended with three sold-out showings at Perth Theatre on the 20th December, with lots of brilliant feedback from the children and their families.
